The Complete Etchings Of Norman Lindsay by Lin Bloomfield
$450.00
Description
Norman Lindsay is the most under-rated artist in the history of Australian art. Living at the cusp of the 19th and 20th centuries his work which is classical in style flew against both the progressive and traditional modes of the time. He was no modernist. Yet his subject matter which was overtly sexual alienated the traditionalists because it was seen, rightly, as anti-Christian and pagan.
Yet what matters is beauty and this collection of his entire series of etchings demonstrates his exquisite draughtsmanship, erotic sensibility and wit. All compiled in a very rare volume. That is why it’s hideously expensive, tho’ a bargain by world standards.
