The memoirs of Edward Buca a soldier in the Polish Home Army who was sentenced to death by the Russian at the end of World War II. Commutted to 20 years hard labour Buca was sent to the Vorkuta labour camps in the Arctic Circle. In 1953 he managed to unite the prisoners and conduct a general strike which succeded in forcing the Soviet authorities to change their inhuman treatment of Gulag prisoners. He lived to tell his tale.
