Facsimile of the British Museum Harley Collection No 2253. Known as the Harley Lyrics. The manuscript consists of the work of three medieval scribes and contains an eclectic mix of religious and secular verse and prose. Two of the scribes are unknown the 3rd is known as the Ludlow scribe.
One of the over 17 000 texts sold to the British Museum by Sir Robert Harley’s grand-daughter, number 2253 is deemed to be one of the collections significant texts. The Harley collection is one of the foundational collections of the museum.
Features an introduction by Palaeographer Neil Ripley Ker.
